Rent to buy
A Van Today. A Route to Ownership Tomorrow.
Rent to buy is a longer-term arrangement for eligible customers. You get a working van now and, by keeping up the agreed payments under your contract, work towards owning it.
What rent to buy is
Hire that leads somewhere
With standard van hire, you pay for the time you use the van and hand it back. With rent to buy, you enter a longer-term agreement that includes a route towards ownership, subject to its terms.
It is designed for people who need a van to earn a living and would rather their regular payments build towards something. It is not a short-term hire, and it is not a promise of approval — eligibility and terms depend on the agreement offered.
Rent-to-buy availability, eligibility, deposits, payment terms, ownership conditions and vehicle availability are subject to the specific agreement offered. Full terms will be provided before you enter into any agreement.

FAQs
Rent to Buy Questions
If your question isn't here, ask us. We'd rather explain the terms properly than have you guess.
How does rent to buy work?
You hire a van from Allied Hire under a longer-term agreement that includes a route towards ownership. You make the agreed regular payments for the length of the contract, and ownership is dealt with in accordance with the terms of that agreement. It is different from a standard short-term hire, so we will explain the full terms before you commit to anything.
Do I need a deposit?
This depends on the vehicle and agreement offered. Any deposit or initial payment will be set out clearly before you enter into an agreement, so you know exactly what is required up front.
How long is the agreement?
Agreement lengths vary depending on the van and the option that suits you. Our team will confirm the term, payment schedule and what happens at the end of the agreement before you sign.
When do I own the van?
Ownership is subject to the conditions set out in your specific agreement, including completion of all agreed payments and any other requirements it contains. We will walk you through those conditions in plain terms before you commit.
What documents will I need?
Typically you will be asked for a valid UK driving licence, proof of identity and proof of address. Depending on the agreement, further information may be requested. We will tell you exactly what is needed when you apply.
What happens if I want to end the agreement early?
The options for ending an agreement early, and any costs involved, depend on the terms of the agreement you enter into. These will be explained to you before you sign, and we are happy to talk through them in advance.
Is this a regulated finance product?
Allied Hire will confirm the nature of the agreement being offered and provide full written terms before you enter into it. Please read those terms carefully and ask us anything you are unsure about.
